Hannah has been part of the Meldrum House team for almost four years, but her love of weddings goes back much further. Having started her career in hospitality at just 16, her very first role saw her working within an events team and helping to look after weddings across Aberdeenshire.
“I soon realised that the wedding sector was something truly special,” Hannah says. “There’s something about being part of such an important day in people’s lives that I’ve always loved.”
A love of weddings from the very beginning
Stepping into the role of Wedding Manager felt like a natural next chapter for Hannah. “Weddings were always something I knew I wanted to focus on, so when the opportunity arose, I knew it was meant to be. I still catch myself tearing up when I see a bride walking down the aisle or a couple having their first look. I love being able to really immerse myself in the day.”
For Hannah, that emotional connection is all part of it. From the first conversations and initial ideas to seeing everything finally come together, no two weddings – or couples – are ever the same. “My favourite part of helping to plan a wedding is hearing all about the couple’s plans. Everyone has their own ideas for what they want their day to be, and being able to help bring those ideas to life is amazing. Seeing their reaction on the day, when all that planning finally comes together, is something I’ll never tire of.”
A setting with a little bit of magic
After almost four years at Meldrum House, Hannah knows the estate inside out, but the setting hasn’t lost any of its magic. “As soon as you turn into the drive, you know you’re somewhere special. I love the contrast here – you have all the character and history of the old Manor House alongside the fresh, contemporary Ballroom, so there are so many possibilities for how your wedding can look and feel.” It’s also that flexibility that Hannah believes makes Meldrum House particularly special. From an intimate ceremony for two to a celebration for 200 guests, the spaces can be shaped around the couple rather than the other way around. And if she had to choose her favourite spot?
“The Doocot. One hundred per cent.”
Last year, Hannah helped host several intimate weddings there, including one particularly memorable ceremony for just the couple themselves. “I was lucky enough to be one of their witnesses. Some weddings just stay with you, and that is one I’ll never forget.”
Making the space your own
While wedding trends come and go, there’s one Hannah is particularly pleased to see making its mark again: draping. “I absolutely love draping. It can transform a space so elegantly and create such a wow factor. In the Ballroom especially, it can completely change the look and feel of the room. You can add as much or as little as you like, so it’s a lovely way to make the space feel completely your own.” But whether a couple arrives with a Pinterest board filled with ideas or only the beginnings of a plan, Hannah’s biggest piece of advice is refreshingly simple:
“Remember, it is your day.”
It’s something that can easily get lost amongst guest lists, seating plans and other people’s opinions, but Hannah encourages couples to keep coming back to what feels right for them.

“Pictures are lovely, but you really need to experience Meldrum House in person. Come up the drive, walk through the spaces and imagine your day here. Seeing it for yourself will absolutely take your breath away.”
