Golf Manager’s Message – David Mann
It was nice to welcome more golfers back as April progressed with familiar faces returning to golf after Winter. It was especially pleasing to receive compliments on the course condition as the month wore on and temperatures started to rise. Towards the end of the month, we even had a few days where members and their guests could sit back and relax on the patio after their rounds. A little bit of sunshine and some warmth was very welcome and gave us all a boost.
April saw our first ever Golfclubs4cash event in the Pro Shop. I wasn’t sure how things would go but having dealt with them previously I was hopeful that we could help a few members move on some unused equipment turning it into shop credit in the process. I would like to thank all of you who came along to what turned out to be a great morning. For those who couldn’t make it along, Ross has confirmed that he is happy to return in September. I’ll be sure to let you know when just as soon as we have a date confirmed.
Whilst giving a ruling recently, I stumbled across some helpful diagrams on penalty areas whilst looking for something else. As you all know, there are a lot of words in the rules and whilst it is important to absorb as many of them as we can, I thought the relief option images were a simple way of checking your options. Some great golf was played in the month quite rightly mentioned elsewhere in this newsletter, but I would like to finish by highlighting a great shot. Our Seniors Convenor Phil Baxter scored his first ever hole in one after 50 years of trying with a sweetly struck hybrid on the 10th in a bounce game with Jim Morrice against Ron Cookson and Alan Melia. Congratulations to you Phil on what is a wonderful start to the season, well played!
