April was a busy month at the academy, with a real mix of weather, some great days, and some challenging ones! It’s clear everyone is eager to get back into the season. A common theme I’ve seen is that winter practice doesn’t always translate immediately when you’ve got a card in hand and are trying to build a score. That’s completely normal. Be patient with yourself playing and practicing in cold conditions is very different from competitive golf, and it won’t take long to find your rhythm again.

I also had a fantastic catch-up with the ladies’ section in April. We set up some structured practice challenges and discussed how to make the most of our excellent facilities. A big thank you to Sarah Mackie, our new Ladies Captain, who did a brilliant job organising the session and also treated us to some epic cakes!

It’s great to see so many of the ladies now subscribed to my monthly coaching programme. From experience, this is one of the most effective ways to improve. It provides structure, accountability, and continuity three key ingredients for real progress. I offer both one-hour and two-hour monthly packages, which include lessons, on-course coaching, a monthly practice club, check-ins between sessions, and a clear practice structure designed to help you achieve your golfing goals.

Alongside this, I also share a daily instructional tip over on Instagram and Facebook @neilmarrcoaching so make sure you’re following along for regular advice and simple ways to improve your game.
If you’d like to explore what might work best for you, feel free to get in touch you’re always welcome to pop in for a coffee and a chat.

Golfer of the Month – Ladies Section, Meldrum House
This month, I’m delighted to nominate the Ladies Section at Meldrum House as our “Golfers of the Month.”

Their enthusiasm and energy at the early-season meet-up were fantastic to see. The group fully embraced the practice challenges, engaged brilliantly with the coaching, and created a really positive atmosphere throughout the session.
A big thank you to Sarah Mackie, the Ladies Captain, for organising such a great event and for helping bring everyone together so well.

That kind of attitude is exactly what leads to improvement and more importantly, enjoyment of the game. If they carry that same energy and commitment through the season, there’s no doubt they’re set up for a very strong year ahead.
A well-deserved recognition, keep it going!
